DEBUT ALBUM! The Housewives of Saint John have been drifting around the St. John music scene for a while but really became an anchor draw for Cruz Bay clubs over the last couple high seasons. Known for their high energy, multi-hour sets, their mix of classic rock and cowboy country is always informed by the more ascendent mind travelers of the West Coast. Now they take the that unique formula and apply it to an entire album of original material.
The result is a sprawling collection aptly named “On The Run.” These are driving tunes. They hit hard and take no prisoners. They’ll also keep you good company on a cross-country road trip late into the night. Frontman Travis Riddle is a spinner of tales. Some of ‘em are tall ones. Like the slightly Neil Young-ish “If I Live,” in which he imagines himself as a 130 year-old looking back at the story of his own life. Some of ‘em are rowdy and bar busting, like “Electric You” and “Party Town” where the band (Aaron Strickland on Lead guitar, Jalil Jahantab on bass, Taylor Lissandrello on drums, and Riddle on lead vocals and guitar) gets the chance to unleash.
There’s more to discover here in these grooves. Heartfelt balladry, sweeping slide guitars, delicate fingerpicking, and dreamy production. Recorded in Coral Bay out on St. John, this is the sound of late nights in the Caribbean. Get there now, and see them live if you can while they’re on the mainland!
